The Hague Apostille
With the Hague Apostille, the countries that have signed the agreement recognise the legal validity of a public document issued in another country that has participated and signed the Hague Convention.1 The single legalisation, often called Apostille, refers to the affixing on the public document itself of an apostille or annotation, such as a stamp certifying the authenticity of the public document issued by another country.
What is the advantage of the Hague Apostille?
The Hague Apostille removes the requirement for diplomatic and consular legalisation of public documents from any document originating in one of the countries that have signed the convention. The documents will not require any further authentication other than the Hague Apostille on the document.
