Formalities at Italian Consulates

Italian Consulates and Embassies of Italy act as Italy's representation abroad and act as a bridge between other countries and Italy. They support Italian citizens - as well as promoting the activities and image of our country - and offer a range of services from civil registration to electoral services, AIRE registration and much more.

The application for renewal or issuance of the Italian passport.

It is probably the service most requested by Italian citizens living abroad. The Italian passport expires every 10 years for adults. Moreover, due to the new technological changes that require the application of the citizen's fingerprints, it is often not a renewal but a new issue of the Italian passport, and in some countries the wait for the issue or renewal of the passport can be long. Our office, Trámite Italia, advises and follows the clients interested in the renewal or issuance of a new passport step by step, maintaining the relations with the Italian entities abroad, that is consulate or embassy, as well as with the Italian municipalities of origin.

The application for renewal or issuance of the identity document -  carta d'identità.

Often, when the wait is long, the quickest way to obtain a national identity card and to be able to travel is probably the issuance of the carta d'identità italiana. The carta d'identità, i.e. the Italian ID card, expires after 10 years for adults. Our office, Trámite Italia, advises and follows the clients interested in renewing or issuing a carta d'identità step by step, maintaining the relations with the Italian entities abroad, that is consulate or embassy, and also with the Italian municipalities of origin.

Transcripts for updating marital status

The Italian consulate acts as the Italian civil registry and takes care of any changes that may have occurred in the family nucleus. With the transcription of certificates, the Italian commune updates the civil status of the person. The most common transcriptions are transcriptions of birth certificates, marriage certificates and divorce certificates.

But before being able to process any change that may have occurred in the family nucleus, it is necessary to proceed with the registration in the A.I.R.E. Once the A.I.R.E. registration is done, it will be possible for example to request a change of the family record, such as the birth of a son or daughter, the issuing of an Italian passport or DNI, i.e. the carta d'identità for the newborn child. Sometimes it is simply the same registration of the marriage celebrated in a foreign country as in Spain in order to be registered in the Italian State.
